The Carter Center’s Democracy Program has been engaged in providing support to domestic civil society organizations conducting election observation of the April 2010 National Elections and the scheduled January 2011 Referendum. The Center has an immediate opening for a highly-qualified Sudanese Administration Officer to join the Center’s core team in Juba, Sudan.
The Administration Officer will be primarily responsible for ensuring smooth administration of the Center’s field office in Juba and providing necessary logistical support to facilitate program implementation. The Administration Officer will also assist the Center’s Chief of Party and Program Officer as needed.
Primary responsibilities will include:
• Provide advance work for meetings and trainings
• Identify suppliers, secure pro formas, and purchase office goods
• Arrange for the printing of materials
• Maintain an inventory of project materials
• Arrange travel via commercial flights and WFP
• Booking accommodation
• Process visa applications
• Assist in managing day-to-day logistics of the Center’s field office
in Juba.
• Support the logistics officer of civil society partner
Applicants should have at least three years of experience in administration and logistics, or related work, preferably with a humanitarian aid organization.
Applicants should be highly organized, and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines when necessary.
Strong written and oral communication skills and competence with basic computer applications are requisite, as is a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
Applicants must be fluent in English and Arabic, and willing to travel frequently within Sudan. Salary is commensurate with experience.
