AED is seeking a Chief of Party for a Teacher Professional Development and Infrastructure Program in Southern Sudan funded by USAID in association with DiFD and the United Nations Office for Project Services. The program will focus on teacher professional development and include complementary activities to support teachers and improve the quality of pre-service and in-service training, career development, certification, deployment, inspection, and management and pedagogical guidance at the classroom level.
Chief of Party
The CoP must have no less than 10 years of experience in the education sector with ample experience in policy dialogue, education reform and national-level quality improvement. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in preparing and executing teacher professional development and support programs. S/he must have a Master's Degree in a relevant field of study and should also have demonstrated experience in and knowledge of the various aspects of teacher professional development and support. Experience as a manager of similar programs in other African countries is highly desirable. S/he should have strong leadership skills and experience in managing large, interdisciplinary teams, as well as working in politically sensitive, fragile and/or post-conflict environments. The CoP must demonstrate problem-solving and consensus-building skills and the ability to promote coordination among diverse interests and institutions.
The CoP main duties include:
Coordinate the implementation of the project objectives through strong leadership;
Collaborate with the partner responsible for implementing the infrastructure activities (Objective Four) of the TPDI program
Maintain communication with USAID, ensuring the mission is informed of the relevant events;
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with key technical education and other relevant officials in Southern Sudan;
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with other donors and NGOs working in the area of teacher professional development and support;
Ensure coordination with other US Mission agencies and programs and other donors in relevant areas of interest for TPDI.
