Role and Responsibilities
To provide leadership, strategic direction, management and evaluation of all aspects of Medair's projects in South Kordofan, including security and staff support. Assist technical staff working alongside authorities to encourage coordination and more sustainable approaches to the programme.

Project Overview
Supporting and improving standards of Mother and Child Health Care (MCH), which includes Reproductive Health (RH) Care, Public Health Promotion (PHP) and Primary Health Care (PHC). Supporting sustainable improvement in access to and usage of safe water supply and sanitation practices in targeted communities.

Workplace: Kadugli, South Kordofan, Sudan

Starting Date: March 2011

Contract Details: Minimum 18 months more preferred, 100%

Qualifications
  • University degree and or relevant professional experience
  • Relevant qualification in relief or development
Experience / Competencies
  • 2 years experience in a leadership position
  • 1 year senior field management experience in relief & rehabilitation projects
  • Advanced project and people management skills
  • Good report and proposal writing skills
  • Advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills
  • Good negotiation and diplomacy skills, especially in the context of other cultures

  • Committed to Medair values
  • At least one year of professional experience in a relevant field (more experience preferred)
  • Minimum 3 months overseas work experience
  • Willing to commit to Medair for a minimum of one year
  • Single, or married without children (or no dependent children)
  • Strong working knowledge of English (oral and written)
  • Competent with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Able to live and work with a multicultural team under difficult conditions
  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit
  • Successful completion of Medair Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)
