Role and Responsibilities
Responsible for the coordination and management of the WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) project. To anticipate, plan, initiate and share in the development of appropriate WASH objectives, and contribute to developing appropriate projects / proposals; effectively manage and implement the WASH project in line with the objectives set.
Project Overview
Supporting sustainable improvement access to and use of safe water supply and sanitation practices in targeted communities, with a strong focus on hygiene promotion and latrine construction through Community Assisted Total Sanitation and alternative solutions, such as rainwater harvesting and rehabilitation of water yards.
Starting Date: March 2011
Contract Details: 1 year minimum, 100%
Qualifications
- Higher level qualification in water / technical subject
- BSc / MSc in Water & Environmental Engineering / Management or Civil / Construction Engineering or Hydrology / Geology desirable
Experience / Competencies
- 2 years minimum experience post qualification
- 1 year overseas experience in relief work with an NGO, preferably in the WASH sector
- Previous management experience
- Strong leadership skills and a supportive management style

- At least one year of professional experience in a relevant field (more experience preferred)
- Minimum 3 months inter-cultural overseas experience
- Willing to commit to Medair for a minimum of one year
- Single, or married (without dependent children)
- Strong working knowledge of English (oral and written)
- Competent with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Able to live and work with a multicultural team under difficult conditions
- Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit
- Successful completion of Medair Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)
